Program Rationale and Philosophy
The aim of physical education is to enable people to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. Physical Education at St. Joes strives to encompass the basic outcomes set by Alberta Education. Those outcomes are: activity, health benefits, cooperation, and doing it daily for life. Upon completion of the program students should be able to bring all these aspects with them into their adult life.
How to Succeed in Physical Education 10 *be changed for class-- proper clothing/attire means active wear and running-type shoes; please do not wear tank tops in class; proper attire is a safety requirement
*electronic devices are not permitted in the gym (ie.cell phones, mp3 players,etc)
*participate enthusiastically—the goal is to be active and improve your skills
*respect and celebrate each other’s differences and abilities
Evaluation—Per Unit
15% Basic skills and application
35% Attitude/effort/participation
20% Safety/Lates/Changing
15% Teamwork/Communication
15% Leadership/ Fairplay

1) Attached is the rubric that will be used for each unit; partial values may be awarded when necessary
2) Each unit is combination of specific outcomes as per the attached listing
3) This course is a diploma requirement
