Well, here it is. The end. This is the last post. There will be no more blog posts. We are in our last week.
What should you be doing in your last week? Culminating activity number 9. Drop anything you are doing and get that done. It is worth 60 marks collectively between the 3 credits. It is very important you get number 9 done. Some clarification: Number 9 asks: if you could change the world by changing something in yourself, what would you change? Then, make a composition that illustrates the personal change and how it would change the world. What do you reflect on? I would suggest using the rubric as a guide. Reflect on visual composition, media, and e-learning as it relates to your project. You can hand in number 9 on the page its on. Remember: the deadline for absolutely everything to be in will be 310 on January 21st. Exceptions granted in only the most extreme of situations. Thanks everyone. :)

All classes, please hand in questions 1-8 here from now on.
I hope everyone has had a good Christmas vacation.
Over the last two weeks I have gone over every single website that has been handed into me with a fine tooth comb. I have tried to find every single mark that I could give and put them into powerschool. Everything I have from you is currently up to date at this time. 1. Your first task this new year is to check your powerschool. Figure out what I have and what I am missing. 2. Currently 25 percent of your are still failing the first credit. This is mainly because of a lack of a copyright question that has been handed into me. (Check the copyright page to see if you are missing something) Keep in mind that the next two credits are unavailable to you unless Visual Composition is passed. 3. Timeline: we have essentially two weeks in class and another week or so during exams before report card marks are due. This means that people will need to be coming in before or after school or during focus. 4. The last culminating question has been posted. Keep in mind that this question will slot into all three of your credits, so it is worth quite a bit. 5. I have taken the buttons down off the individual questions. From now on, everything will be handed in on this blog in the late hand in below. 6. Lastly and most importantly. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY MARKS POSTED OR YOU THINK YOUR MARKS ARE WRONG YOU MUST, I REPEAT MUST, LET ME KNOW. If I have made a mistake or cannot find your website, the onus is on you to let me know. Report card marks are final, and you do not want to be trying to change your marks after they are in... You should have these things on your website or handed in. Remember, your website should mimic my website. If you don't have all the components to pass the course, you should see the pages they exist on or myself for guidance. We are quickly running out of time. There are 3 weeks left in the course, enough for exactly 2 more questions.
Question #1 Role Model: Planning: 2 marks Composition: 2 marks Reflection chart: 11 marks Critique: 7.5 marks Question #2 Beauty: Planning: 2 marks Images of Beauty: 2 marks Reflection Chart: 9 marks Critique: 7.5 marks Question #3 Magazine Cover: Planning: 2 marks Magazine Cover: 2 marks Reflection Chart: 11 marks Question #4 Copyright: Creative Commons License: 2 marks Planning: 4 marks Composition: 6 marks Reflection Chart: 5 marks Citing Sources 5 marks Question #5 Advertising: Deconstructions: 25 marks Composition: 5 marks Blog/Phlog/Podcast: 10 marks Question #6 Social Media: Mind Map: 10 marks Public Service Announcement: 10 marks Question #7 Classroom of the Future: Planning: 5 marks Composition: 10 marks Reflection Chart: 10 marks Question #8 Digital Citizenship Avatar Planning: 5 marks Composition: 10 marks Reflection: 10 marks Question #9 Change in the World (Culminating Project): Planning: 5 marks Composition: 10 marks Reflection: 5 marks First: I have marked your copyright (Essential Question 4) and inputted the marks into Powerschool
I have quite a few zeros: read over half of you have zeros Each and every one of you needs to hand in your project on your own website!! All components of the project must be present on your website and you must then hand them in through the buttons on my website as we have done for the previous 3 questions This is the way its been marked: creative commons license: 2marks planning: 4 marks composition: 6 marks chart with terms: 5 marks citing sources: 5 marks If you are missing any one of these components you are hurting yourself badly as copyright will go into two credit and is worth quite a bit in the grande scheme. Second: Advertising (Essential 5) should be in. I will be marking it and inputting marks into Powerschool this weekend. If it is not done, I will be inputting zero's. This will mean that quite a few of you are going to have a lot of zero's and will be working on these projects of the Christmas break. Sorry. Third: We should be finishing the Social Media (Essential 6) by mid this week. If you plan on getting all 3 credits out of this course, it is strongly recommended you have this done by the end of this week. Fourth: Essential Question 7 has been posted, and I will post number 8 by Christmas break should you wish to work over the break. Fifth: Things are ramping up. Using the last two weeks effectively is key to finishing the course with all credits and a good mark. I will be conducting personalized interviews over the next two weeks to try and clear up any work you are missing at this point. Sixth: Naw, thats it... no sixth. First: The advertising hand in buttons now work. Sorry about the delay. I've been a bit swamped.
Second: Essential Question #6 has now been posted, those of you who have finished advertising please move on to the next question. Third: Those of you who are still working on Copyright, you are falling badly behind and are at risk of not obtaining all 3 credits. Please come in during focus or before or after school Almost done question 5: Advertising.
You should have your deconstructions posted on either a blog/phlog or Podcast, as well as an advertisement almost finished. Each person should have one unique advertisement. Remember that you will be marked on your ability to present your information in the proper format. (Hint: look up blog/phlog or podcast on Google.) This weekend I will post question #6 Social Media. If you are falling behind please make sure you see me either before/after school or during focus. You should be done Copyright by now. Please remember that everything from the project must be posted on each one of your websites, and everyone must hand in a copy to me. If I do not have your name on my google forms, I might miss you.
This means that if you have a poster, some form of picture of the poster should be posted on your site. This is for myself and your parents to be able to keep track of your progress. Please make sure you have handed in your copyright assignment through the hand in buttons at the bottom of the page. (Copyright) Next Question is advertising. In the PDF and word documents are charts with deconstruction questions. These questions are to be used while deconstructing the commercials on the linked page. Once you have answered these questions, you are to Blog, Phlog or Podcast your answers. You then make your own commercial and follow the same deconstruction process. Then: its that simple. You're done. Note: Please remember that there are also critiques being posted. #1 has been posted and #2 is almost done. November the 13th. Pretty well the halfway point in every course you are enrolled in.
For this course this means we should be at exactly 4.5 of our 9 essential questions. Are we? Question 5: Advertising has been posted. I will be signing out the ipad cart to be used for question number 5. You should be finishing up your copyright very soon. Lastly. You will start to see critique buttons at the bottom of some of the essential question pages. You and a friend will need to sit down and critique each others works. So for the Role Model Question you will need to open your role model composition with a friend and critique each others works in the Google Forms. This shouldn't take too long, but is part of your final mark. These critiques are in lieu of actual class presentations. That's it! For the next 5 periods we will be working on Canadian Copyright Law.
The Alberta Curriculum states that students should be able to: identify copyright restrictions and permissions and put them into practice Therefore we are proposing and building a presentation on Canadian Copyright law. 1. You must submit your proposal with your team members in the post previous to this one. 2. Your members and presentation must be approved! 3. Plan your work... this will be assessed 4. Make your work. 5. Fill in the reflection chart in the pdf on Essential Question number 4 page. 6. Hand in via the google forms button on the bottom of Essential page number 4 page. Done. |
