Typing: From typewriter to keyboard
The modern typewriter was invented in the 1860's. This means that typing as a skill has been around for more than 150 years. Voice recognition is still in its infancy and is not likely to take over input into a computer for many years, if at all. The fact is: inputting letters and symbols individually into a computer is the most efficient and precise way to produce the results you require from a computer. As such you need to learn how to keyboard efficiently and effectively. This is an invaluable skill for literally hundreds if not thousands of professions.
