Routines/Competencies/Connections
All of these outcomes can pretty well fall under how you organize your file structure so that your files and projects are easily understood by me. As such a large part of your competency grade will be determined by how you communicate with me over the cloud. Your will see a competency grade in every credit! It is approximately 30% of your overall mark per module! Clean up the junk and keep your folders organized!!!
Where are you saving your file?
You must know and understand the difference between a local drive, a network drive and a cloud drive.
Local drive: The hard drive on the computer you are sitting in front of. If this computer loses power, gets corrupted or wiped because of a system upgrade, kiss goodbye to all your files and work.
Network drive: This is sometimes called a NAS or (network attached storage). These are basically server farms that are small computers that are dedicated to running hdd's (hard disk drives). The CBE does not own or run these for students as of 2022.
Cloud drive: Google drive. These hard drives are like a NAS but are located in a server farm in some far off location (California? Seattle?) and need the internet to access them. Be careful what you put on these drives as whatever you store on them, you will lose ownership of the content.

Save all work to the cloud drive: Google Drive
If you never want to lose your files and work you should be uploading copies of you work to Google drive every 15 to 30 minutes. Upload to the appropriate file under the file tree.
Please create a folder titled "lastname","firstname" - "10, 20 or 30". Inside this folder should be folders that constitute the course you are enrolled in. The following is the example of what I should see in your google drive.

Save Times and Filenames
How often should you save your work?
A good rule of thumb is to save every 10-15 minutes.
What types of names should you use?
Use descriptive precise names that are either your assignment you are working on or your own personal name. ie. Motion tween 1
Should I use the save or save as command?
Save as, always. No exceptions. Every time you save you should renumber your save so you can go back to a previous version. ie.
Motion Tween 1
Motion Tween 2
Motion Tween 3
Motion Tween 4
Motion Tween Finished
This will ensure you always have a working file. For example, say Motion Tween 4 was accidentally saved to the desktop and lost, then Motion Tween 3 would still be on the server. If Motion Tween 4 somehow became glitched, then you could load up 3.
Lastly, I don't want to go through all of your files looking for your finished copy. Name your finished copy by the assignment name and finished. I.e "motion tween - finished". Keep your old files in the folder so I can give partial marks, but keep things clean and organized and don't save junk.
