Assessment:
Students will be assessed throughout the course on the using the following stems and indicators.
Stems
Explores interests and skills in the design and approaches to challenges
Creates a product, performance or service in response to challenges
Appraises process, product and personal contribution in response to challenges
Communicates and demonstrates knowledge and skills in response to challenges
Indicators
4 – Excellent achievement of grade level expectations.
3 – Good achievement of grade level expectations.
2 – Basic achievement of grade level expectations.
1 – Not meeting grade level expectations.
Course Outline:
1. Unit 1: Google Suite
a. In this unit, students will be tasked with setting up and maintaining an online portfolio of Google products which will be used throughout the year in various classes.
2. Unit 2: Basic Computer Maintenance
a. Students will learn about basic computer operations from a hardware level and will be introduced to troubleshooting
3. Unit 3: Digital Citizenship
a. Students will explore online and offline conduct and expectations in an increasingly connected society
4. Unit 4: Keyboarding Strategies
a. Students will be introduced to the qwerty keyboard and will be given the opportunity to develop keyboarding skills
5. Unit 5: Information Processing
a. Using either Google Docs or Microsoft Word/Excel, students will learn basic word and spreadsheet skills
6. Unit 6: Introductory Robotics or Adobe Master Suite
a. Students will begin to inquire into their choice between coding or graphic design
